SMAP Energy, a Cambridge University born data-driven startup, proudly announced today its inclusion into the Winton Labs accelerator program. Run by the quantitative investment group Winton, the programme aims to attract early stage companies where the creation of data or the application of data science is central to the business.
Winton has a long history of successfully applying data science to disrupt the world of investing. The Winton Labs program was created to support companies that have the same data centric view of the world.
Winton Labs aims to be Europe’s premier startup accelerator for data science companies. The 3 month programme will take place in the ‘The Lab’ co-working space at Winton’s London headquarters in Hammersmith. The program offers many benefits, including a non-equity stipend to each team; collaboration with Winton’s data scientists, business leaders and VC team, as well as a vast network of external mentors; and access to other forms of support like Amazon Web Services credits.
“SMAP Energy’s focus on data analytics for smart meter-collected energy consumption data made applying to the program a natural fit,” said SMAP Energy co-founder Paul Monroe. SMAP Energy will join six other startups in the second official class of the accelerator beginning this November.
